Eu sei que Picasso faz os pulsos correrem, e a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o se baseia nisso: <i>Testemunhe Seu impacto art\u00edstico<\/i>.  A mostra \u00e9 sobrecarregada por um impacto que \u00e9 muito, muito menor do que a conquista de Picasso. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Infelizmente, essa localiza\u00e7\u00e3o acad\u00eamica de influ\u00eancias, ecos e sauda\u00e7\u00f5es nos traz trabalhos que mal agitam o sangue \u2013 e coloca trabalhos interessantes em contextos onde parecem solit\u00e1rios e pequenos.  Resumidamente, o programa \u00e9 fraco em conte\u00fado que toca quest\u00f5es ou emo\u00e7\u00f5es humanas prim\u00e1rias.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">A ocasi\u00e3o para <i>Depois de Picasso <\/i>\u00e9 o 25\u00ba anivers\u00e1rio do Deichtorhallen Hamburgo.  A celebra\u00e7\u00e3o deles \u00e9 este show: Artista enorme e um tema que \u00e9 mais importante em conceito do que a arte que o demonstra.  Adicione empr\u00e9stimos de todo o mundo e temos um Evento.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Este show tenta sem sucesso atender a dois p\u00fablicos.  Embora possa ser um home run para acad\u00eamicos, \u00e9 um show para um p\u00fablico geral e curioso.  Em seu esfor\u00e7o consciente para conceber toda poss\u00edvel sobreposi\u00e7\u00e3o de &#8220;Picasso&#8221; e &#8220;influ\u00eancia&#8221;, desperdi\u00e7a espa\u00e7o e paci\u00eancia do espectador em tediosas apropria\u00e7\u00f5es da obra de Picasso;  em figuras isoladas ou composi\u00e7\u00e3o emprestada de Picasso;  e na arte que reage a \u00edcones ou estilos de Picasso. Exceto em um sentido acad\u00eamico, ganhamos pouco apre\u00e7o pelos tomadores de empr\u00e9stimo como criadores de arte profundamente interessante em si mesma.  Nossa compreens\u00e3o de influ\u00eancia \u00e9 ainda ampliada pela adequa\u00e7\u00e3o de algum material a uma narrativa curatorial.  O auto-retrato de Cindy Sherman h\u00e1 anos mostra seu interesse pela hist\u00f3ria da arte amplamente. Mas sou a favor de separar o trabalho e a pessoa.  Descobri que, ao dedicar uma parte da mostra \u00e0 sua celebridade, os curadores apenas refor\u00e7aram minha sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de que estavam menos interessados \u200b\u200bno que a arte \u00e9 e pode fazer do que em suas armadilhas.  O ego de Picasso \u2013 como o de qualquer artista \u2013 reside legitimamente em seu trabalho.  Isso tem que valer para todos os artistas.  Infelizmente, temo, achamos que isso \u00e9 verdade tamb\u00e9m para seus imitadores e satiristas.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">A inspira\u00e7\u00e3o para uma s\u00e9rie de fotografias de Martin Kippenberger foi uma foto de Picasso de cueca, mostrada aqui no p\u00f4ster do desfile de Kippenberger.  Na mostra (sem imagens dispon\u00edveis) o pr\u00f3prio Kippenberger posa no papel de Picasso, vestindo cal\u00e7\u00f5es semelhantes, \u00e0 vontade em torno de um interior indescrit\u00edvel.  O show de Kippenberger, para o bem ou para o mal, satiriza a si mesmo e seu tema simultaneamente. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Seria f\u00e1cil substituir Picasso por uma foto de Vladimir Putin ou Whitey Bulger sem camisa em um p\u00f4ster como este, em uma postura t\u00e3o ampla, posicionada um pouco acima do espectador: A postura viril grandiosa n\u00e3o come\u00e7ou com Picasso. Acho esta foto de um projeto que trouxe um Picasso para a Cisjord\u00e2nia muito mais comovente do que as muitas reitera\u00e7\u00f5es, imita\u00e7\u00f5es e reinterpreta\u00e7\u00f5es de <i>Guernica<\/i> inclu\u00eddo no espet\u00e1culo.  Robert Longo foi convidado a fazer um novo trabalho para inclus\u00e3o na mostra, e seu enorme carv\u00e3o <i>Guernica Redigido <\/i>reivindica uma posi\u00e7\u00e3o significativa. A diferen\u00e7a de dimens\u00f5es\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">escultura sugerida por m\u00faltiplas figuras em uma pintura (<\/span><span style=\"background-color: white;\"><span lang=\"fr\" xml:lang=\"fr\">A fam\u00edlia de saltimbanques, 1905<i style=\"color: #252525; font-family: sans-serif; line-height: 22px;\">)\u2014 <\/i><span style=\"color: #252525; font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 22px;\">por si s\u00f3 libera a pe\u00e7a do suposto original.  A arte de De Jong em sua <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"background-color: white; color: #252525; font-family: sans-serif; line-height: 22px;\">ter<\/span><span style=\"background-color: white; color: #252525; font-family: sans-serif; line-height: 22px;\"> <\/span><span style=\"background-color: white; color: #252525; font-family: sans-serif; line-height: 22px;\">medium cria uma \u00fanica figura que condensa o impacto de v\u00e1rios em um s\u00f3lido exemplar de isolamento debilitante.  Como Hourani, de Jong come\u00e7a em Picasso e segue seu pr\u00f3prio caminho sob suas luzes \u00fanicas. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"\/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">As melhores obras da mostra, as que demonstram mais claramente o alcance de Picasso nas mentes dos artistas que vieram depois, parecem tanto a olho quanto a l\u00f3gica como aquelas em que as imagens de Picasso n\u00e3o<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">aparecer.  Nas colagens de fotos de John Stezaker, temos uma das poucas oportunidades nesta enorme mostra de encontrar trabalhos de um artista que digeriu t\u00e3o completamente Picasso que n\u00f3s, como espectadores admiradores, ficar\u00edamos, fora desta mostra, provavelmente surpresos de t\u00ea-lo apontada nestas pe\u00e7as.  Em uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o com poucas surpresas, o trabalho de Stezaker se destaca, e com certeza entrega o melhor momento did\u00e1tico da exposi\u00e7\u00e3o.  Apropria\u00e7\u00e3o, celebridade e imita\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 parte, o que os artistas contempor\u00e2neos escolheram manter de Picasso? A sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de realidade reconfortante que as imagens nos d\u00e3o \u00e9 mais persistente do que a desorienta\u00e7\u00e3o cubista.  Os olhos nos prendem intensamente: como n\u00e3o conhecer essa pessoa;  como pode ser que n\u00e3o sejamos intimamente conhecidos por algu\u00e9m que pode nos olhar t\u00e3o profundamente?  Enquanto os olhos fornecem um foco profundo, assumimos ordem em tudo ao seu redor. Nossos olhos saltam em torno de qualquer coisa estranha, fora de lugar, incongruente, esquisita&#8230; Para melhor?  Para pior? <i>Casamento 1<\/i>, como o casamento para muitos, est\u00e1 travado e mudando.  A t\u00e9cnica, o modo de ver era novo com Picasso e amigos.  O assunto e sua apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o via<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"> uma percep\u00e7\u00e3o apresentada ao mundo h\u00e1 mais de um s\u00e9culo s\u00e3o brilhantemente de Stezaker.  \u00c9 fresco e novo e profundamente informado.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">N\u00e3o invejo a tarefa de planejar uma temporada na Wexner ou qualquer espa\u00e7o de arte contempor\u00e2nea semelhante em um campus universit\u00e1rio.  Equilibrar as reivindica\u00e7\u00f5es dos artistas acad\u00eamicos e historiadores da arte com as de um p\u00fablico informado &#8211; incluindo estudantes universit\u00e1rios n\u00e3o especialistas, professores e funcion\u00e1rios &#8211; deve ser uma tarefa delicada e dif\u00edcil.  Desta vez o p\u00eandulo balan\u00e7ou muito longe em uma dire\u00e7\u00e3o, eu acho. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><i><br \/><\/i><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Entre as obras inclu\u00eddas, muitas podem ser secund\u00e1rias ou irrelevantes para os principais temas das obras dos artistas individuais.  Mas mesmo assim, o que h\u00e1 <\/span><i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1445458380753_16743\" style=\"background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', 'Segoe UI', Helvetica, Arial, 'Lucida Grande', sans-serif;\">Depois de Picasso: 80 artistas contempor\u00e2neos<\/i><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"> \u00e9 claramente de interesse genu\u00edno e leg\u00edtimo para historiadores de arte e curadores.
