Curated by Tevi de la Torre, Teresa Ferreiro Peleteiro and Roberta V\u00e1zquez, it brings together examples of the work of more than <strong>80 authors of different styles<\/strong>origins, trajectories, social and ethnic groups.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The exhibition shows pages taken from the authors&#039; books<\/strong>fanzines or periodical publications that in most cases were chosen by the authors themselves and are accompanied by a text, also written by them, that helps to contextualize them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Autobiography, the genre that the exhibition addresses, is a genre within comics that has a long tradition<\/strong> which dates back to the 1970s and today enjoys great popularity among readers and artists. The authors tell in the first person aspects of their lives, their circumstances and their interests. It is a particular testimony that, thanks to the language of comics, manages to connect with the public in a universal way. Through the power of its images, the autobiographical comic generates empathy with the situations that are described, beyond the geographical environment or the time in which it is read.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ctl00_ctl00_cph1_cph1_ctrlBlogPost_sumario\" style=\"background-color:#c11d4d;\" class=\"sumarioCentral\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The authors tell in first person aspects of their life, their circumstances and their interests<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"ctl00_ctl00_cph1_cph1_ctrlBlogPost_body2\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The exhibition is organized into six sections<\/strong>, with no intention of classifying the authors. The first is the affective space, then the area of the feminist testimonial comic, that of LGTBIQ identities, health, the workplace and that of family and historical traumas. It addresses themes that are narrated through the life experience of the authors themselves, such as <strong>class conflicts, xenophobia, misogynistic violence, mental health, immigration<\/strong>working conditions, sex work, the couple, the family, friendship and the creative process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The title of the exhibition refers to the need to claim and give visibility to the work of these authors. The curatorial team explains that \u201c<em>They are courageous, even daring works, due to their honesty, which do not leave you indifferent. They transform their authors and bring experiences to the world of readers.<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">will be organized <strong>two meetings with the exhibition of<\/strong> <strong>free entry<\/strong>. In the first the <strong>April 21<\/strong>Teresa Ferreiro Peleteiro, co-curator of the exhibition and PhD in Fine Arts and Gender Studies with a thesis on comics and feminism, offers the<strong> conference \u201c<em>Understands me<\/em>\u201c<\/strong>.
