The libraries in Alcalá de Henares already have with a new web portal that functions as a library and virtual archive, which has 15,000 documents free and open access.
The platform allows search for specific titles in the specialized press catalog, with the aim of digital preservation and public dissemination of the Complutense documentary heritage via the Internet.

Among the archives are several collections from the local press, with 130 titles and 12,197 copies. It also highlights the photographic backgroundcomposed of more than 100,000 images, of which more than 3,000 have already been digitized, or historical manuscripts. Digital copies can be downloaded in medium quality, in JPG format; and you can view videos, books and manuscripts.
The digital file consists of two parts, the first dedicated to the management which includes printing, lending, customer service, statistics, description and cataloging. On the other hand, the second part has to do with the diffusion; which includes galleries, collections, full-text publications, explanatory or informational videos.

This way, citizens can consult topics such as the newspaper from the day they were born or the programs from the Alcalá festivals and documents such as the manuscripts of Cardinal Cisneros, the trilingual Catholic catechism and documents before 1500, from the time of Alfonso X, the Wise. Another of the jewels is the royal privilege granted by Carlos II 300 years ago to the city of Alcalá de Henares so that it already had its title of city.
The Councilor for Culture, Maria Aranguren; and the Advisor for Technological Innovation, miguel castillejo; presented the details of this initiative, which has a budget of 120,000 euros from the European Regional Development Fund (Federal).
