A dream come true: Shrek will have a new film

DreamWorks Animation puts the fifth chapter of Shrek in development and begins negotiations to bring its protagonists

Our childhood favorite ogre will return to the big screen with a fifth film thirteen years later Shrek Forever After. Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy are in talks to return.

It's been over a decade since we last saw Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Puss together at the movies. Since then, the people cried out for the return of the ogre and his friends. Alarms began to ring in December, when at the end of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Gato said they were going to see some old friends during a trip to Far Far Away.

Since then, the Internet began theorizing that a hypothetical “Shrek 5” was on the way. Until Antonio Banderas, voice of Puss in Boots, said in February that there was the possibility of revisiting Ogre and company.

Chris Meledandri, producer at DreamWorks Animation, confessed that the film process has just begun. At the time the study is in negotiations with Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy to return as Shrek, Fiona and Donkey respectively. Although he doesn't give many details, Meledandri confesses that the actors are “tremendously excited” to bring their characters back to life characters.

Variety also exposes that there is the possibility of making a spin off Donkey in the future. Meledandri is confident that the Talking Donkey could star in his own movieand admire the love that Eddie Murphy feels for the character.
